Bondright Roofing Guide to Matrix Roofing

Matrix Roofing uses Glass Reinforced Plastic, also known as fibreglass, to provide a hard wearing easy to install roofing solution for any roof. It is more commonly used for flat roofs and complex roof designs with lots of protrusions, such as skylights. It was originally developed for use in the shipbuilding industry so as you can imagine it really does stand up to the elements very well.

Matrix GRP is a fiber reinforced polymer made of a plastic matrix reinforced by fine fibers of glass. GRP is a lightweight, extremely strong, and robust material.

Here at Bondright Roofing we love to use the best roofing materials and are always at the forefront of the latest trends. When it comes to flat  roofs we think that the GRP Matrix Roofing System is brilliant… and here’s why:

Tough and hard wearing roofs that are built to last
These roofs are built to last. They bear the brunt of weather good or bad, sun or rain they can really hold their own. A well laid 'felt and gravel' flat roof will have a typical lifespan of 10-12 years before it will need to be stripped back and re-laid. In contrast, a fibreglass covered flat roof can sometimes last up to 40 years or more – that’s over 300% longer!

Matrix GRP roofs are easy to repair
The nature of fibreglass lends itself well to repairs and patching, so if the worst should happen and the roof develops a problem the Matrix roofing system is easily patched and repaired.

It’s environmentally friendly
Compared to other materials, the production of GRP is exceptionally benign. This is because the production of base resins and fibre rovings just do not have the same environmental impact as metals like steel. Like most synthetic materials, the resin used to make GRP comes from a petroleum by-product. Many GRP products have a lifespan on over 50 years and in some cases over 100 years. This is not only better for the environment but for businesses budget’s too.

Virtually maintenance free
Matrix roofing systems don’t require very much maintenance, outlets only require cleaning around once a year.

No Joints or seams
The Matrix roofing systems are installed all in one piece so there are no gaps or joints that may over the time fail and develop leaks.

Easy to install & lightweight
Matrix roofs are lightweight and easy to install. They are far lighter than traditional roofing tiles. They also take less time to install too which helps makes them more cost effective than other roofing options.
